Overview

To plan, organize and control production to ensure that goods are produced efficiently, on time, within budget and to standard in a safe and sanitary manner.

  • Provide leadership and establish conditions and practices conducive to good health, acceptable cleaning practices, adequate pest control and safe orderly operations.
  • Assure manufactures products consistently meet all specifications.
  • Understand/comply with OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Provides safe operating conditions and training to ensure a safe environment and responds quickly to critical safety conditions.
  • Continually transfer accountability for quality control to front line workers
  • Determines various operational measurements and summaries: Disposition of product rework, Direct and indirect volume costs, Line productivity, Fixed expense improvement opportunities, Labor variances, Shrink/yield loss, Raw material cost, Measured output as case per unit per equivalent wage hour
  • Apply most up to date food processing technology as provided by company
  • Evaluate the entire production process and take action to optimize (line balance)
  • Preferred-Associate or BS degree in Engineering, Business, Production Management, or Food Safety.
  • On-the-job experience within the plant with proven leadership skills and a history of positive contribution to the success of the organization as documented and supported by annual Performance Evaluations.
  • Expertise in all elements of SQF certification and principles.
  • Certification as a Food Safety Coordinator
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; ability to analyze data and draw conclusions.
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow; versatile, flexible, and able to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm; ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; team player.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Suites software (or functionally similar equivalent).
  • Familiar with Prism, MRP and Dolphins systems (or similar date management systems) for managing inventory, production requirements, and scheduling.
  • Good judgment; ability to make timely decisions.
  • Ability to understand all safety requirements and cautions.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace; bilingual English/Spanish.
  • Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organization levels
  • Understanding of basic principles of the SQF program and other food safety policies/procedures
  • Spanish literate a plus
