Overview

The Business Development Account Manager will thrive in our fast-paced, start-up business environment. Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), the Business Development Account Manager will serve as a vital partner to the leadership team and will generally manage the company’s day-to-day business development and sales activities. This role effectively works with the CCO to research, identify and analyze market segments, market opportunities, and market trends and develop plans to capitalize on market opportunities. This job’s primary role is developing and fostering the customer pipeline, converting qualified leads into revenue-generating accounts. As Verb Biotics is a start-up company, the Business Development Account Manager will wear many hats and is key in supporting the CCO to nurture a positive company culture and achieve commercial success.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead generation and fostering new accounts in the dietary, supplement food, beverage, and companion animal industries
  • Account management which includes preparing and negotiating sales contracts and ensuring adherence to established guidelines and company policies
  • Responsible for sales planning, forecasting, and achieving the forecasted revenue targets for assigned accounts
  • Research, identify and analyze market segments, market opportunities, and market trends and develop plans to capitalize on market opportunities
  • Provide feedback to leadership regarding market strategy, lead generation process, product pipeline, and account development/hurdles/risks
  • Proactively identify and solve complex problems that impact the management, relationship, and direction of the business
  • Attend trade shows and industry events to generate new leads and gain market insights
  • CRM data maintenance for assigned accounts and leads
  • Support the development of sales collateral and perform sales presentations
  • Works closely with R&D and Customers for application development

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • 5-7 years of experience in sales and/or business development
  • Prior experience selling “Biotic” ingredients preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required

Demonstrated Skills

  • Sales acumen, proven success selling functional ingredients
  • Ability to understand and articulate scientific and market information
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Proficient with MS Office, CRM (HubSpot preferred), LinkedIn, online searches
  • Proficient negotiation skills
  • Proficient troubleshooting skills
